Hiking in Yellowstone

Yellowstone Hiking

Yellowstone has always been a dream of mind and I finally got the chance to make the trip and hike in Yellowstone and on in to Montana. Yellowstone and Montana are the holy grail for me when you consider hiking. Seeing what was created for us and the varying views you will get in Montana and Yellowstone make every minute and turn a new surprise. On the trip we saw geysers, streams, mountains, wildlife that those that don’t get on a trail never have a chance to see. Yellowstone is a very crowded place during the summer months but what we found is if you are a hiker the crowds disappear pretty quickly. Especially if you hit it early. We found most of the time we felt we had our own Yellowstone and National Parks all to ourselves. If you get interested in hiking Yellowstone here is a guide to the favorite hikes of staff members. Yellowstone goes into Montana as well as Idaho and Wyoming. On we went to hike some trails in Montana. We found montanatrails.org to be a great help in finding good trails. There are thousands of trails all over Montana that are free to the public and have different difficulty levels. Fair warning some reach pretty high altitudes so make sure you will do well in high altitudes. You can get recreational oxygen for hiking to help and I would also recommend taking bear spray with you.

Grizzly Bear

We saw several black bears and one grizzly. The grizzly was far enough away that we could observe from afar. If you have never visited Yellowstone or Montana or have only done it through a car window I would highly recommend considering hitting the trail. It is life changing, helps you get away from technology and helps put things in perspective.

Hiking for Life

hiking in the Mountains

Hiking has become a very important part of my life. In fact, I would say it has made me who I am at this point. I lead a busy life full of stress in the big city and like most people my life revolves around my phone and email. I wish it wasn’t that way but society and jobs require it in today’s world.

Over a period of years I just became anxious and angry. I decided to take a weekend off and take a hike in Colorado just myself alone. It wasn’t anything strenuous and I don’t even remember the name of the trail but I took a sleeping bag and some water although not enough! That was my first mistake and ended up drinking water out of a stream and was lucky enough that I didn’t get giardia. I didn’t know what giardia was but that is one of the things you get to learn in hiking.

I ended up sleeping on the trail which I’m sure was illegal. My mind started slowing down and I started noticing things that I hadn’t when I started. It has been a long time since that first hike and now everything I do revolves around my next hiking trip.

I am so much more relaxed, in shape and can handle stress better due to hiking. Part of the fun is planning the next trip and introducing people to hiking. My girlfriend now enjoys it and we go on trips both together and with couples. We have made great new friendships with people that we have taken on trips or just have run across on the trail.

It is so cool because you just never know what you will see next. A new adventure or site awaits you around every corner. I would strongly encourage anyone that feels like their life has become overwhelming to get out and try a hike! I think you will enjoy it and it might change your life.

If you need something else to convince you here is one of my favorite Youtube channels about hiking and this is one of their Hiking videos.

Hope you enjoy the site and keep coming back!
